Panchpokhari, meaning 'Five Ponds', is a group of holy lakes in the Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal. This is a relatively new and unspoiled trekking route that offers a beautiful blend of cultural immersion with the Tamang and Sherpa communities and stunning natural scenery, including views of the Jugal Himal range.

Drive from Kathmandu to Bhotang (1,800m)

A long drive from Kathmandu takes you through scenic countryside to the starting point of the trek.

Trek to Nasimpati (3,700m)

A steep ascent through dense forests. The trail is challenging but rewarding as you gain altitude.

Trek to Panchpokhari (4,100m)

Continue ascending above the tree line to reach the sacred lakes of Panchpokhari. The views are spectacular.

Explore the five lakes and hike to a nearby viewpoint for panoramic sunrise views of the Himalayas.

Begin your descent, retracing your steps back towards the lower altitudes.

A long day of descending back to the village of Bhotang.
